My 17 Money Wise Wedding Cake Ideas
Have large hand crafted sugar flowers, these will make more of an impact on your wedding cake and will not cost you as much as small sprays of sugar flowers.
If you wanted to have an impressive 4 or 5 tier wedding cake, cake ‘dummies’ can be used, saving you money on the baking costs, or have all ‘dummy’ cakes and ask family and friends to bake cakes which can be cut and served to your guests.
Are you creative but not confident to stack and ice your wedding cake? Why not order a wedding cake that is just iced and edged with ribbon and you add your own decoration!
Have your wedding cake covered with butter cream rather than fondant icing, it is not as expensive.
Considering cup cakes? Small cup cake towers can be placed on each table as a centre piece, dressed with a few fresh flowers, replace the need for a floral table centre piece.
Grow your own flowers to dress a plain cake, there look great arranged underneath the wedding cake and for decoration on the Naked Wedding Cakes.
Serve your wedding cake as a dessert, the Naked Wedding cake is perfect for this, have extra fruit, cream or ice cream.
Your cake flavours can add extra costs, my vanilla, chocolate, lemon or coffee flavours are all priced the same. Fruit, Red Velvet or Carrot cake are more expensive.
Try to avoid your reception or caterer charging you a cutting of the cake fee.
A square wedding cake may be slightly more expensive but you will get more servings, so you may not need to order such a large cake.
A dessert table gives you the option to have a smaller wedding cake, set amongst a selection of dessert cakes. Use different height cake stands to add more of an impact to your display.
Silk flowers look wonderful on wedding cakes and can be kept as a wedding day keepsake.
I can create many ‘lace’ effects on your wedding cake, which does not involve piping with royal icing which can take a lot of time.
Cup cakes decorated with a butter cream ‘Rose Swirls’ are very effective and with the addition of a few extra flowers you Wedding Cup Cake tower will look very impressive!
Cookie favour biscuits are a great way to bring your wedding colours together, and liven up your tables. Have your guests name iced on them or attach a gift tag and they serve as place settings as well.
